Pulmonary Disease

A pulmonologist is an expert in pulmonary disease and is primarily concerned with diseases of the lungs. The pulmonologist diagnoses and treats chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, allergy and other complex disorders of the lungs. Pulmonologists evaluate how well the lungs are functioning in many ways, including pulmonary function tests, chest x-rays, EKGs and Stress tests. Most pulmonologists are also dual certified in critical care medicine. (DCMS Online)
